About this electrical inspection checklist
Use it as an electrical maintenance checklist for homes and commercial buildings: service panel, breakers, grounding, GFCI and AFCI protection, outlets, lighting, exit lights and alarms.
Questions
What does an electrical inspection checklist include?
Panel condition, labeling and working space, signs of overheating, double taps, grounding and bonding, GFCI and AFCI tests, outlet polarity, exposed wiring, lighting, exit lights and alarms.
Does this replace a code inspection?
No. It is a general maintenance and pre-inspection checklist. Code inspections follow the NEC as adopted locally and are done by the authority having jurisdiction.
Can I use it for commercial buildings?
Yes. Exit and emergency lighting is already included. Add items for equipment such as transformers, motors or switchgear as needed.
